Super Nintendo Classic Review
Well, I can’t believe that I’m actually typing this. But, here I am. I am reviewing Nintendo’s Super Nintendo Classic gaming console!!
Did your jaw hit the floor? Let’s pick it back up because you’ve heard that statement right!
I am shocked as much as you are right now. I got the Super Nintendo Classic console as a Christmas gift from my mom. You see, my mom reads my blogs(Which is something that I didn’t know she does regularly). She saw posts I made about the SNES classic. So, she quickly search eBay and was able to find it!
To the seller that I don’t know, THANK YOU! And to my terrific mother, thank you VERY MUCH for getting this for me!
Like I’ve stated in other blogs, I’ve given up in getting this because I didn’t think I would stand a chance of getting this console. But, here I am. Writing a blog about the Super Nintendo Classic console!
Well, let’s get to this review, shall we?
Super Nintendo Classic Review
Again, I still can’t believe that I have the Super Nintendo Classic console in my hands. Something that I didn’t think would happen because of that fiasco over the summer.
This console looks nice! It really is the miniature version of the original SNES.
But once you take a look at the SNES Classic console, you can tell the notable differences.
On top, the cartridge section is closed. Duh, Joe! That’s a given. All the games you will need is already packed in there. The front where the controllers are plugged in is “closed” also. But, once you pop it open you can see where the new controllers go.
The power & reset works the same way. The reset button works differently. Instead of resetting the game, the button will take you back to the main menu. The power button turns it on/off, just like the original.
The back side has two ports. You will see the HDMI cable that hooks into the back of the TV. Something to note. Nintendo put an HDMI cable in it. I didn’t they would. So, that was cool to me once I seen it inside! And the extra slot is a USB power charger. Which you can use for other devices.
The cool thing about the Super Nintendo Classic is that Nintendo put two controllers in it. This was something that the NES Classic didn’t come with. You had to but the second controller separately. Thankfully we were able to get 2! The controllers are practically the same size as the original. The biggest difference is the USB type plug at the end.
I have to say, that I love the design of the Super Nintendo Classic console. I don’t have my original one with me to compare it, but it’s basically the same. I love how convenient the system is. It takes less space than my other consoles. And if I want to travel somewhere, taking this with me won’t be too bad. But, it would be cool to have a traveling case 🙂
I know the thing You’ve been waiting for me to talk about. The games.
Well, SNES Classic comes packed with games. It has:
- CONTRA III THE ALIEN WARS
- Donkey Kong Country
- Final Fantasy III
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- Kirby Super Star
- Mega Man X
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls’n Ghosts
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Punch-out!!
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Yoshi’s Island
I haven’t played all of them. The games I’ve played is: Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Super Mario, and Super Mario RPG game.
Now, I’ve been playing Mario Kart like CRAZY! I didn’t play it on SNES, but I did play it on the N64. And I loved it. Glad that it’s on the SNES Classic.
The games played like you remembered growing up. Most of these games I never played when I was young So it’s nice to see them on here so I can play ‘em.
It’s also great to go “back to the basics” with these games. These games were gameplay orientated. And the gameplay was GREAT! These days, it’s a hit or miss. But, this blog isn’t an old school vs new school game debate. We will save that for another day…
Finishing up, I love the Super Nintendo Classic console! I’ve been playing this console back and forth for days now. I should of stop earlier to get this review done earlier. >_>. Nothing wrong with being thorough ;).
I think that this is great for all the old school players who miss playing the original SNES. Now we got the Super Nintendo Classic to relive our old days! Dang, I feel old…
The Super Nintendo Classic is a great system!
If you have a chance to play it, you will be immersed in it as much as I am right now!
I’m really happy to play a system that I grew up on!! So, to you 90’s kids, this is a MUST have! Time to relive our childhoods! To the younger generations, get this. This is what made a lot of gamers to become game designers!
If you were lucky to get this system, what do you think about it? Are you enjoying every minute of it like me? Comment below!
